How well do you know the United States? State Streak is a new mode on GeoCoach: you drop into a Street View spot somewhere in the US, and you just have to name the right state. Get it right and your streak grows. Get it wrong and the run is over. Simple, until it isn't.

How to play State Streak

Open State Streak and press Play. You can try it without an account.
Look around the Street View: signs, plates, roads, trees, the sky.
Open the map and drop your pin anywhere inside the state you think it is. Only the state counts, not the distance.
Right state: your streak goes up by one. Wrong state: the run ends.
Keep going as long as you can. Your best streak goes on the leaderboard.

You still get points for every round (up to 5,000 for a pin right on the spot), and your average score decides ties on the leaderboard. But the streak is what matters.

Seven stages, each harder than the last

A new stage starts every few levels, and each one takes something away from you:

Levels 1 to 5, Classic: famous places all over the country. Walk, look around and zoom as much as you like.
Levels 6 to 10, Harder places: no more landmarks. City streets and crossroads instead.
Levels 11 to 15, No zoom: you can still walk and look around, but you can't zoom in.
Levels 16 to 20, Black and white: no colours. Soil, signs and plates all go grey.
Levels 21 to 24, 10 steps: every step makes it darker. After 10 steps the screen goes black, so choose where you walk.
Levels 25 to 35, No move: look around and zoom, but you stay where you are.
Level 36 and up, Blink: the place shows for one second, then it's gone. Blink stays until the end of your run.

From level 6 the famous places are gone: city streets and crossroads.

Four lifelines

Every run starts with one of each. Use them well:

Save: kicks in by itself on your first miss. The streak survives (it just doesn't grow that round).
4 answers: four states light up on the map, and one of them is right.
Circle: a 250 km circle appears with the place somewhere inside it.
50/50: half of the wrong states go dark.

Spent one already? Every 5 rounds you survive, one of your used lifelines comes back.

Burgers and license plates

Every time you reach a streak level for the first time, you win a burger. Tap it three times to eat it, and sometimes a bite turns it into a bigger burger. The higher the level, the better the burger:

Burger on most levels
Cheeseburger on every 3rd level
Big Big Burger on every 5th level
Texas Burger on every 10th level
Vegan Burger on every 30th level

Inside every burger is a license plate. There are 51 to collect (all 50 states plus Washington, D.C.), from common to legendary. Alaska, Hawaii and Wyoming are the rarest, and bigger burgers give rarer plates. Got a plate you already have? You get a free extra lifeline instead.

New plates hang on your plate board. Move them around however you like, save the board as a picture, or wear it as the scene behind your avatar on the Play page.

The road trip and the Statue of Liberty

Your progress is a road trip across America: 60 levels through six stretches, from Big City Life and Ranch Hand to Desert Highway and Sunset Coast. Each level has its burger, and you can see what's coming next.

And there's a special stop at level 15. Reach a streak of 15 and you unlock the Statue of Liberty skin, a limited Legendary skin for your avatar. It's free, but only for a limited time, so don't wait too long.

You won't play alone. Dollard Bump, our very confident tour guide, comments on every round. He's always sure, he's often wrong, and he will tell you it's Louisiana grass. Don't trust him. If he gets too loud, tap his head to send him away.

The leaderboard

The leaderboard runs by season, and the November season is on now. Your best streak sets your place (your average score breaks ties), and there's a Friends tab to see how you stack up against the people you follow. Want to brag? Share your run as a line of eagles, one for every state you got right.

Is it free? Yes. You can even play without an account. To keep your burgers and plates and get on the leaderboard, sign up for free.
Do I need to know the exact spot? No. Any pin inside the right state counts.
Can I take a break? Yes. Press the X and your run waits for you. Press Continue when you're back.
Does it work on a phone? Yes, on any phone or computer.
